History Stork in Amsterdam Noord arose in 1915 with the takeover of the engineering works and the iron foundry, the Etna. At that time the activities comprised general equipment engineering and the manufacturing of machines for the chocolate industry. Rather soon after the First World War, Stork started with the production of complete installations and the construction of factories for the palm oil industry for which the former Netherlands East Indies constituted the main market area. Up until the Second World War, palm oil was the most important product. After the war the development of systems for the dairy and food industry, which had started in the 1930s, was vigorously continued.
The activities of Stork and its international stature are best reflected in the name that the company has carried since 1998: Stork Food & Dairy Systems B.V. Recently Stork Food & Dairy Systems merged into the Stork Food Systems group to take advantage of company synergies. |
