| Can you describe the two-stage or two-phase process? |
|
Answer: During two-stage sterilisation, the product is subjected to first-stage in-flow (UHT) sterilisation and packaged into glass or plastic bottles, followed by a second-stage in-container sterilisation. The two-stage sterilisation line is employed for the production of high-quality, long life products, eliminating the need for effecting the filling operation under aseptic conditions. Hence, this line is eminently suitable for processors wanting to fill and package low-acid liquids at high capacity and moderate costs. The line comprises a Stork Sterideal UHT steriliser for first-stage in-flow product sterilisation, which ensures commercial sterility with minimal impairment of flavour and other organoleptic properties of the product. The product can be packaged in glass or plastic bottles manufactured in-house on Stork blowmoulding equipment or purchased from a bottle supplier. The sterilised product and packages come together in rotary Stork Dairy filler. Depending on requirements, volumetric or weight filling may be used. The bottles are sealed downstream from the filler in a non-aseptic environment. Subsequently, the bottles are transported to the second-stage, the Stork hydrostatic continuous steriliser for gentle in-container sterilisation which server to eliminate any recontamination of the product during bottle handling and filling. |
